TLDR: Only 5% of direct-to-bank-account payouts arrive in or near real time, according to a study by PYMNTS Intelligence and Trustly. The study found that when payouts are sent to a credit card or bank account, nearly one-quarter took longer than three days to be received. In contrast, almost a quarter of payouts to digital wallets or third-party apps were received within 60 seconds. The study also revealed that access to real-time payouts played a significant role in consumer preferences, with nearly half of all respondents citing it as a factor when choosing a payment method.
